Kate Middleton has been recovering from planned abdominal surgery at the London Clinic since last week, as announced by Kensington Palace. She is likely to remain in the hospital for up to two weeks before returning to Windsor. During this time, the Princess of Wales won’t undertake any royal duties until after Easter. Kate has received numerous ‘get well’ messages on social media.
The Palace disclosed last Wednesday that Kate underwent a successful planned abdominal surgery, clarifying that her condition is non-cancerous. She is expected to stay in the hospital for ten to fourteen days, maintaining privacy about her medical information. Kensington Palace will provide updates only when there is significant new information.
Once discharged, Kate will recover at her family home in Windsor. Prince William is reducing public engagements to care for their three children while Kate recovers. The Prince of Wales’ planned visit to British troops abroad was postponed, and the couple’s trip to Italy, including a possible meeting with the Pope, has been called off.
Princess Kate will temporarily step back from significant projects like the Shaping Us initiative during her recovery. They will also take on fewer duties during Mental Health Awareness Week next month. Prince William has been supportive, visiting Kate at the hospital and handling school runs, with assistance from the family nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.
